GongLah help

GongLah is a live voice-writing workspace. Choose the language you will speak, record your full thought, then finish it in Natural, Clear, English, or Original. Cantonese remains the core experience, with Mandarin, English, and Filipino also supported.

Start in one minute

  • Choose the interface language, then the language you will actually speak. They do not have to match.
  • Tap Record and allow microphone access. Text appears while you speak; Stop finishes the last words.
  • Use Natural for everyday editing, Clear to reorganize key points, English for a translation, and Original to check the browser transcript.
  • Copy when ready, then start a new segment. Content saves automatically on this device.

Language and accuracy

Speech language controls browser recognition, punctuation, paragraphing, and the glossary. Choose Cantonese for Cantonese + English speech, or select Mandarin, English, or Filipino as appropriate. The current segment is saved before a language change.

Add names, brands, and recurring terms to the glossary for that language. Correct a short term and Copy to teach the personal glossary. Corrections remain separate by language.

Long recordings

  • Keep the page in the foreground and avoid locking the device. GongLah tries to keep the screen awake, but the browser or operating system can still pause recognition.
  • If recognition is briefly interrupted, GongLah shows Reconnecting and tries to preserve words already received.
  • For important work, use several topic-based segments instead of one extremely long document. This is easier to edit and back up.
  • The on-device version is available immediately after Stop while AI editing can finish in the background.

Editing, versions, and recovery

  • Tap an English word or select text for a quick keyboard edit, or replace selected text by voice.
  • Natural, Clear, English, and Original are versions of the same segment. Switching does not delete Original.
  • Clear requires confirmation, and Undo can restore an accidental clear. Undo also remains available when Clear after Copy is enabled.
  • Segments lets you reopen older work, Copy all, or delete a specific segment.

Accounts, sync, and backups

The full app works without an account. Google, email codes, and passkeys are optional ways to enable cross-device sync. Settings includes visible Sign out and Delete account actions. A sync conflict pauses overwrite until you merge or choose a copy.

Export a JSON backup regularly when text is important. Signing out or deleting the cloud account does not automatically delete on-device text.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing happens: use current Chrome on desktop or Safari on iPhone, and allow site microphone access.
  • Recording stopped: keep the page in front, check the network and system microphone, then tap Record again. Completed text should remain.
  • Wrong language: stop, change Speech language, and begin a new segment.
  • Wrong headset input: run the microphone check in Settings to see what the browser actually receives.
  • AI editing failed: Original and the on-device Natural version remain available; retry later.

Privacy essentials

GongLah does not store audio. Recognition is provided by the browser or device provider, and AI features send only completed recognized text. Anonymous short-correction sharing can be disabled in Settings. See the Privacy page for full details.
